Go-Qualia – Girl of Synesthesea Chapters 1 and 2

I’m a big believer in artwork grabbing you, and when I saw the cover of this two part recording unknown to me, regardless of genre I HAD to get this.  The colours are dreamy, the girl is beautiful and with a sweet set of headphones I thought that maybe this music was electronic in nature, made for a nice set of headphones.

o-Qualia is a japanese artist who from my research (and my limited understanding of Japanese) creates electronic ambient/dance music and soundtracks for various anime movies/series. Her songs are littered with vocal samples of the high register and compliment her constructivist works wonderfully. The opening track of chapter one is a haze and hiss of ambient dissonance and the recording doesn’t kick in until the second track, a beat heavy dance number filled with airy fissures and space. Enter track three, ‘In none of places that are’, an ambient vocal cut up with electronic blips and beeps all over the place, a headphonics dream soundscape.

The aural pleasure continues throughout the two chapters, with an anomally of styles all crashing into one another to create a fresh and cool sounding collection of tunes.
