Miles Davis – Birth of the Cool

Birth of the Cool by Miles Davis was my first real introduction to some great jazz music, at the time I didn’t understand it, I most certainly didn’t appreciate it, however it planted the seed for me to revisit, expand and discover the wonderful world of jazz music. The tunes on this disc are playful and enchanting with a the recording itself yielding a true 1950’s feel complete with true warmth and a certain gravely edge. Davis and co exhibit great musicianship in soloing and in concert and give an exemplery display of post-bebop jazz that was all it at the current time.
