Miles Davis – Round About Midnight

Considered the man to shape the music of the last 80 years, Davis was at the forefront of all the major thrusts of musical genius from hard-bop jazz, swing, jazz fusion, hip-hop and even drum ‘n’ bass – well before everyone else. Round About Midnight showcases whatis known as the first great quintet and stamps Davis’ first release on Columbia records. The recording highlights the trumpeters amazing skills and diversity with opener Round Midnight plodding along slowly with solos from all involved. From then we hear the trademark sounds of the hard-bop and be-bop era of jazz – one of my personal favourite eras of Miles Davis. Perfect for relaxing in bed or doing some work it’s the kind of timeless music that will grace ears for years to come.
